Dr Amber Qureshi is Co-Founder and a Director at Psychologists The Streets Deserve (PTSD). She is an experienced Clinical Psychologist, and is a registered member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). She has over 8 years of experience working within health, justice and community settings.

Born and raised in South West London, Dr Amber’s personal and professional experiences have shaped her understanding of how trauma, identity, and systemic inequality intersect. She has witnessed how trauma responses within communities affected by community violence are often normalised or dismissed, and is committed to amplifying the voices of those communities.

She is passionate about making interventions accessible, relatable, and culturally meaningful, particularly for people from marginalised communities who have often been failed or misunderstood by systems. She believes that trust is the foundation of any meaningful psychological work which is why she prioritises creativity, authenticity, and playfulness in her engagement approach. She often draws on music, media, and pop culture to explain psychological ideas in ways that resonate with the people and systems she supports.

Alongside trauma and PTSD, she has interests in brain development, OCD, and cultural humility. She enjoys providing training on these topics. She and colleagues have published their systematic review on the impact of cultural frame switching on wellbeing.

Dr Amber has appeared on podcasts discussing mental health, representation, and systemic change, and continues to advocate for communities affected by community violence.
